JORD Wood Watch Giveaway

JORD Wood Watch Giveaway

I have a thing for watches.

There, I said it.

I like jewelry. A lot. If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that. But I really have a thing for watches. And when I find something I really like, I can’t help myself but to share about it. I guess it’s that evangelistic gifting in me. When I find something I really love, why wouldn’t I share?! And let me tell you, I will never share something here that I do not LOVE!

I’m obsessed with JORD watches. A few years ago, they sent me one, and I’m not lying when I say I’ve worn it everyday. I have the Frankie, Zebrawood and Champagne. So when they reached out and wanted to give, you, my friends, a watch, I was on that like white on rice.

The One He Loves

Growing up, my elementary best friend was our pastor’s daughter of a very large church. Everyone knew who she was and treated her special because of it. My best friend all throughout middle and high school had the best dad ever. He was a very prestigious and well known businessman in our area. He taught me what it meant to be respected by men, and he was the first inkling of what it could be like to be fully loved by a father. He taught me how to wash cars and that I should be treated like a princess. I’m so thankful for him.

But he wasn’t my dad. And if I’m honest, there were so many times I wished he was.

A few months ago I had a dream that wrecked me to my core. It changed me forever. I’ll never be the same.

In the dream, I was at our church that we attend now. Everyone was scurrying around, you could hear the buzz among everyone, because Tim Tebow was there. I remember not being too impressed.

I have this thing with famous people. They put their pants on just like I do every morning, they’re normal people just like me, so I don’t get too worked up about them. It’s not to say the anointing on their life shouldn’t be honored, it definitely should. But for those famous people that are Believers, it’s just that, an anointing from God. He’s the famous one.

Back to the dream, I walked in church and was running late (shocker). The only seat that was available in the entire church was the one behind Tim Tebow to the left. I sat down in the seat ready for worship.

And Tim Tebow turned around to me and started talking, doting on me, saying all of the nicest things. He was treating me so special. I started to cry because what he was saying was so kind, but I had seen this before.

He thought I was our pastor’s daughter.

It was a compliment. I love our pastor, and feel very much like he’s a spiritual father to me.

“Wait, wait, I’m so sorry. I think you’ve misunderstood. I’m not the pastor’s daughter,” I said.

“I know, but your Papa’s. Your Papa’s daughter.” he replied.

In the dream, I ran to the back of the church where I normally worship and laid down on my face, sobbing, completely undone.

I woke up from the dream crying. And every time I remember this dream, even as I’m writing this, my heart swells and my eyes fill up with tears.

I remember Papa God whispering to my heart that favor follows me because I’m His. That I’m a big deal, because I’m His daughter.

My best friend’s dad was great, but He doesn’t hold a candle to the Father I’ve found in God. That dream positioned my heart to not only receive from Him more fully but receive from others too. It marked me in a way that I’ll never be the same.

I’ve been thinking a lot about John, the beloved. So many people poke fun at him, because he wrote those words about himself, “the one that Jesus loved.” But the more I think on it, the more I think we might could learn from him.

John’s identity was fully established by being loved by God. The deeper I go into the heart of the Father, the more I’m learning that His love changes everything. And the greatest part of me, is that I belong to Him.

I’m my Father’s daughter, the one that He loves.

This dream I shared is yours too. You’re the one in the story with extra favor, that is spoken highly of, and doted on. Because if you are in Christ Jesus, you’re only identity, you’re true identity is established in the love of God.

You’re the Father’s daughter, the one that He loves.

I Don’t Want to Hustle

I get it. You probably haven’t seen anything like this today. In fact, I’m sure the world has told you otherwise. Boss babe and side hustle are more like the hashtags you’ve scrolled through.

There’s this idea that if we work hard enough we can get the life that perfect girl has on Instagram. Or if we just keep the oil burning on both ends, we’ll hit that big break, and our business will take off too. We just need to hustle a little more, work a little longer. Strategize and energize.

Instead we’re left exhausted, never content, and feeling like failures.

I don’t want to hustle.

Because you know what? If I have to hustle, it’s probably something I don’t want anyway. If I have to strive to get there, I have to strive to stay there. And that’s not abundant life. It’s not the abundant life Jesus bought for me.

There’s so much more.

Do you know how many emails I get asking how to start a blog? Or how to grow a following? Or how to start a ministry?

Do you know my response every time? “You don’t. Holy Spirit does it.” From the very beginning, I haven’t done the “blogger” things I’m supposed to do. At the end of the day, I don’t care about an algorithm or peek time to post or email list tips.

Two summers ago, Holy Spirit woke me up around 3:30 am. I wasn’t sure if He wanted to chat or what, so I asked Him what was going on. Immediately I remembered a picture of Selah and me that I loved, He told me exactly what to write about the picture. I posted it at 3:30 am and went back to sleep.

I woke up the next morning and it had gone viral.

Papa God taught me so much from that.

If God wants something to grow, He’ll give it the nutrients it needs to do so. I didn’t have to work or strive or burn the midnight oil. I was literally RESTING. He woke me up out of my rest!

There’s something extremely powerful about partnering with God through a posture of rest. When I realize that the ministry He has given me isn’t actually mine anyways, it’s His, and I take my place colaboring with Him to bring His plans and purposes from heaven to earth, everything shifts. Because no longer am I responsible for the growth, He is. His ministry, His responsibility. I simply get to do what He says. I get to be apart of the family business, and colabor with my Dad. I’ve always wanted to do that.

So when I don’t know what to do, I ask Him. I listen, and then do what He says. I still had to wake up that night and write the post He gave me. I could’ve chosen not to, but I did it. I’m not saying we sit on our tails and do nothing. Or we do things without excellence. That’s not our Father’s heart either.

I think Believers should be the best at what they do. I think Believers should be at the top of their companies, the most creative in their industries, and innovative with everything they put their hands to. After all, we have Holy Spirit. And having Holy Spirit is an unfair advantage, because we have access to ALL of heaven’s resources.

I am saying there is power in our posture.

I could work and strive and hustle and maybe only see fruit from a few hundred trees, and that would be my only reward. Or I could colabor with my Papa, out of a posture of rest and watch Him bring in fruit from ten thousand trees. There’s not much of a decision for me.

I don’t want to hustle.

If I’m going to hustle, it’s going to be towards Him. I’m going to keep working for my Dad in the family business. Listening, loving, and laboring with Him.

Don’t believe the lie that the only way you can get there is to hustle. Don’t fall into the trap to believing that the only way to be successful is to strive.

There’s a much better way, friend. And the marketing strategy is real simple, are you ready for it?

Get up close to your Father, listen to His voice, and do what He says.

It really is that easy.
