A Few of My Favorite (Baby) Things…

Both babies are sleeping. There is laundry to do, dishes to wash, and bottles to make. But I have missed you, and while I have the opportunity, let’s visit.

We are settling into this life as a family of four. I have braved Hobby Lobby, Chic-Fil-A, and we even went to the Zoo!

I know we we’re crazy, but we also went to the beach…with a newborn….AND a toddler….it was fun! Like the kind of fun where you’re more tired after vacation than before you went on vacation. But we made sweet memories, and we have several stories to laugh at one day! I DO NOT do well sitting in the house (let me rephrase that… there is NO sitting lately), so getting some fresh beach air, feeling the sand between my toes, and seeing other humans has done my heart such good.

Selah is starting to actually like her brother. She just recently started kissing us and all her toys, so every once in a while, she’ll melt my heart and pucker those sweet lips for a kiss to her “baby.” When he cries, which is often, she puts her little finger past her nose and says, “Shhh, Shhh, Shhh.” She sees me doing this a good bit lately. And my favorite, she sits on my lap when I wear him, and she gets this little squeaky baby voice and says, “Hey baby”….then babbles off in Chinese after that. She gently strokes his back with her sweet brown hand and my heart literally explodes. It makes me wonder if that’s what God’s heart does when we love others well. It seriously makes me so proud!

Instagram

you know that I have been wearing this child 24/7. I have had so many people contact me asking about this wrap, so I thought I’d write about it, and a few other favorite things. I love to read about “favorite things,” so here you go…

*Gripe Water

*Starbucks French Roast Coffee

I told you my babies have had lots of tummy issues. So we use Dr. Brown’s bottles. Yes. I know. They have ten million parts. But I really think they help with the gas issue. Also, this little formula pitcher is a life saver. You can make bottles in bulk, and that’s nice when time is not on your side.

Solly Baby Wrap

HOLY COW. This thing has saved my life! This little guy is quite the mama’s boy already. He likes to be held and cries when he isn’t. This is a problem when I have another baby who is 16 months and still needs me A LOT. So, I wear him, and he is happy and cozy. AND I still have two hands free to pick up sister and hold her too. It’s amazing the things you can get done wearing a baby. Also, if you read

this post

, you know I wrote about how bonding with Selah took some time. I knew this could be a possibility, so I was proactive in buying this. I really feel like him hearing my heartbeat all day, smelling my scent, and hearing my voice is teaching him that I’m his mommy and he belongs to me.

I often look down at him and pray that my heart stays that close to my Father’s. Where I hear the sound of His voice all day, I can smell His scent, and listen to what makes His heart beat. It’s only then, when I am reminded that He’s my Daddy and I belong to Him.

This wrap thing looks super complicated. I promise, it’s not. She has a great

that I watched in the middle of the night once, and tried it the next day with no problems. This is the best 60 bucks I’ve spent in the last 6 months!

/Summer Swaddle Pods

We’ve been using oils for about six months now and I LOVE them! I think balance is important, but we really try to do things the natural way first. I use them on my whole family, and this little man especially, has benefited lately from Gentle Baby. Remember I make their

lotion

? I’ve added Gentle Baby, along with Lavender, to their lotion and I can really tell it calms him down. I also diffuse Gentle Baby after every feeding at night and he drifts off to sleep so much easier. If you are interested in oils,

let me know

So there you go…my favorite baby things. I’d love to hear baby items that you love! What are items you cannot live without?

God is doing so much in my heart. I’m processing through it all and can’t wait to share it with you in my next post. Thank you so much for meeting me here.

I’m praying for you, dear one! I’m praying for you as you take care of your babies and serve your family when all you want to do it sleep. I’m praying for you as you are going through infertility treatments, and your calendar runs your days. I’m praying for you as you wait on your baby and constantly work through mounds of paperwork. When you feel these baby things are so far from you. They aren’t, friend. He is faithful. He is working. I’m praying for grace while you wait!

All my love,

Jessica
