Simple, Purposeful Living As A Mama (Part 1)

Simple, Purposeful Living As A Mama (Part 1)

I think it’s so easy to do the things we do without being intentional behind it all. In this season of my life, with every day being full to the brim, it’s been so important for me to choose to be intentional and move forward with purpose. I am so excited about sharing over the next few weeks how I live with purpose as a mama, with my kids, in my home, and in our routine.

What I love even more about this series is that you are going to hear how other women live with purpose and intentionality too! Several lifestyle and design bloggers in my area, asked me to join them in sharing this series. And I couldn’t be more excited about it. What I love about the four of us, is that each of us have completely different platforms, but share the exact same message. These girls are amazing at what they do, and they love Jesus.

Choosing Peace

Choosing Peace

I don’t think I’ve ever, in my entire life, experienced such rest and tangible peace as I did when we stayed in Moravian Falls last weekend. Just coming off of a full fall speaking schedule, I honestly had no idea just how strategic the Father had placed this weekend as a bookend, summing up such a full season.

The original plan was for me to go to Moravian Falls by myself on a writing retreat. Because let’s be real, with three little kids and all the things that comes with them, writing something than a few paragraphs at a time, just isn’t happening. (I’m writing this very blog post during quiet time! And all the mamas said. “Amen!”) I’ve known for quite some time there is so much in me stirring around, just waiting for the chance to come out. I just knew I needed to give myself space to let those words be birthed.

Wash Day (And our favorite EVER products!)

Wash Day (And our favorite EVER products!)

If you’ve been around here for some time, you’ve probably been on the journey with me of learning how to care for Selah’s hair and skin. It’s definitely an area I am always growing in, but man, I’ve learned so much along the way!

Last week, a childhood friend sent a desperate text, “Hair help please!” She had just gotten a new foster placement and this sweet girl was in desperate need of hair care. I’m so glad I’m finally in a place where I can help! I actually know how to help! So she came over and I washed and styled sweet girl’s hair and it was my honor to love on her and her foster mama in that way.

I realized that many of you who have babies born from your heart might need the same help, so I’m going to take you step by step throughout our wash day. I’ll show you exactly what to do, and tell you all about these amazing products we’ve been using lately.

The Secret Place

The Secret Place

We have always prayed that our hearts and home would always have open walls. We were presented with a sudden opportunity and three weeks ago, we unexpectedly welcomed another sweet face to our family. We’re not sure how long he’ll stay, but we do know while he’s here, he will surely be loved.

The last few weeks have been us adjusting to our new normal, as a family, now of five. It hasn’t been easy, in fact, some moments have been really hard. But all of the beautiful things are at first. They say adding the third kid is the hardest, so hopefully adjusting to the next one will be a breeze, right?! I’m learning how to talk transformers and magic potions. It’s so different from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and princess castles, but I’m finding wherever the Father plants us, He gives us grace there.

A Gift- Both The Man and the {JORD} Watch

A Gift- Both The Man and the {JORD} Watch

These boys have my whole heart. Forever.

When I watch them together, I can’t help but be so thankful I get to call them mine. They are both so strong but gentle. And love me something fierce.

I can’t help but want this little one, to grow up and be just like his daddy.

Every child in the world deserves a daddy like this man.

Truly, he’s a gift.

He plays rough and tough, he’s got a mean golf swing, and he’s the champ in our house at hide and seek. He protects us and provides for us and is so tender when we need him. And let me tell you, when he leaves for work we sit on the stone outside and there are always tears as we wave goodbye. But as soon as that door opens when he gets home, four little feet quickly find their way to him. And they always scream, “Daddy! Hold you!” And he picks them both up. Every time.

Heartgrown Box

Heartgrown Box

When Carly, the owner and founder of Heartgrown Box, contacted me I knew I wanted to help support her in any way I could. I knew this was something that would be so special for mamas in the wait.

There is so much waiting in adoption. Waiting for paperwork to clear. Waiting for appointments. Waiting for a home study. Waiting to be approved. And then there’s the waiting for “the call.” It’s exciting and exhausting all the same. I remember when we were waiting on Selah to come home, there were times I wondered if the wait would ever end. Waiting is so very hard.
